Fortunate Son is the first book in the Forever Marked series, following the second generation from the Marked Men and Saints of Denver series, which is one of my all-time favorites。 I know some people are skeptical about the second generation series, but this was superb! Fortunate Son follows the story of Ry Archer, eldest son of Rule and Shaw, and Bowe Keller, eldest daughter of Jet and Ayden, as they navigate heartache both old and new to find each other and themselves。 Ry was a great character。 You could just feel the weight he held on his shoulders to be the best for everyone, including carrying a legacy that is hard to live up to。 His personality was such a good combination of both his parents。 And when his life is in shambles, he ends up finding Bowe in the wreckage。 Not only does he allow her to support him, but he offers her some advice that sets both of them on the right path。 He was so supportive of his girl and I loved it。Bowe might have her dad's musical ambitions, but she definitely carries a bit of her mother's sass。 She has the drive to succeed like both of her parents before her and it was great to see that, although Ayden may not be completely on board, she was still supporting her daughter。 And we all knew Jet would be a cool dad。Like most Crownover books, the steam was on point。 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 The chemistry between Ry and Bowe was hot and also cute in many moments。 It was a great combination。My favorite part; you get to revisit almost everyone。 I loved seeing how everyone in the first generation aged and evolved in their own relationships (both spouse and children)。 And then we meet a big chunk of the second generation who are dealing with their own issues and situations。 I loved how the second-gen could lean on their parents and on their parent's friends for support。 But I laughed so hard when (view spoiler)[Ry and Bowe were screwing in the bathroom before her show and both their parents were there。 And us knowing that Jet and Ayden used to do quickies in the bathrooms died。 LOL (hide spoiler)]There was one point in the book where I actually cried。 It's funny, because as the first generation grew up in the series? So did most of its readers。 Now having kids of my own, there were a few scenes that, as a parent, had my heart breaking。 I really appreciate seeing the first generation grown up and getting to know them in a different way at all our different ages。I am so very excited about the next book in the series! What a heartfelt story of young passion filled with the challenges and struggles to get to that second chance at love。 For long time Crownover aficionados, this is such a sweet vacation with all our friends from the Marked Men and Saints of Denver series。 Ry is Rule and Shaw’s athletically gifted son and Bowe is the wild musical daughter of Jet and Ayden。 These kids are rebels, and each has a piece of their parents that we love。 We meet most of the second generation from this close-knit group of What a heartfelt story of young passion filled with the challenges and struggles to get to that second chance at love。 For long time Crownover aficionados, this is such a sweet vacation with all our friends from the Marked Men and Saints of Denver series。 Ry is Rule and Shaw’s athletically gifted son and Bowe is the wild musical daughter of Jet and Ayden。 These kids are rebels, and each has a piece of their parents that we love。 We meet most of the second generation from this close-knit group of couples we know like our own families。 Ry starts out with a broken heart right out of the blue which drives him to disappear down to Texas and into a forced proximity with his frenemy Bowe。 Bowe has a promising music career and is finally finding herself and her passion。 Ry shows up and blows up her carefully constructed new world。 She has always been in love with Ry, even when he chooses a different girlfriend。 It basically comes down to a major misunderstanding while Ry thinks they were too young, and she felt the need to abandon him before he hurt her。Fortunate Son is such a wonderful mix of the passionate dynamic of this "opposites attracted" couple and all the mature advice they receive from our favorite parents。 The timeline fast forwards about 20 years from where the Marked Men left off。 With each scene containing Rule, Jet, Rowdy, and the crew, I kept envisioning their new mature features of graying hair while all maintaining their stunning good looks。 “Whenever any one of us from back in the day feels like we’re about to fall, there are a whole lot of hands ready to catch us。” Typical Crownover storytelling throws us some crazy drama that blows up Ry and Bowe’s happily ever after and makes us wait until all is well。 I was anxiously anticipating the bomb that Jay always gives us to create even more intensity and connection to these characters and we love her for it。 Girl - that dream sequence was out of this world!I could easily recommend Fortunate Son as a standalone story, but it is so much more enriching as a reader if you have all the Marked Men and Saints of Denver checked off your reading list。 In fact, Rule is free on Kindle Unlimited and you should pick it up then binge read the entire series。 You will definitely thank me and Crownover will become one of your favorite go-to author Goddesses!I received this ARC from the author and Inkslinger PR for an honest review。 。。。more

The Fortunate Son is a coming home of sorts。 I loved the Marked Men series, so to have theopportunity to read about their kids was a special treat。 While I loved the idea of seeing orhearing about everyone, I did find at times it took away from Ry and Bowe’s story。 Iunderstand the need to build the world, set the series, establish the family vibe, and toannounce the characters but at times it just didn’t fit。I adored Ry and Bowe。 I loved them separately and together they were golden。 I could fee The Fortunate Son is a coming home of sorts。 I loved the Marked Men series, so to have theopportunity to read about their kids was a special treat。 While I loved the idea of seeing orhearing about everyone, I did find at times it took away from Ry and Bowe’s story。 Iunderstand the need to build the world, set the series, establish the family vibe, and toannounce the characters but at times it just didn’t fit。I adored Ry and Bowe。 I loved them separately and together they were golden。 I could feelthe push and pull off the pages。 Their story was well written and in true Crownover fashionit didn’t always unfold as expected。 The depth of their relationship was what sold me ontheir story。 The honesty and raw attraction stood out。 I’m glad they were first up。I am excited for more but hope that in future stories there is a little less front loading ofinformation and more authentic getting to know the new characters and reacquaintingwith the older and perhaps wiser original characters。 On first impression, I didn’t fall headover heels for all the kids。 I am intrigued with where things will develop and twist to changemy mind。 I’m here for it。-Christine 。。。more

Review by Lisa KaneYears ago I remember how much I loved Rule Archer after reading Rule, the first story in the Marked Men series。 I devoured each subsequent book, but Rule remained my first love。 So reading Fortunate Son, about Rule and Shaw's son, Ry, was such a treat。 He is truly a blending of his mother-disciplined, focused, determined to always do his best。 And yet, there is a lost soul seeking its mate that reminded me so much of Rule。 Bowe Keller is the daughter of rocker Jet and his feis Review by Lisa KaneYears ago I remember how much I loved Rule Archer after reading Rule, the first story in the Marked Men series。 I devoured each subsequent book, but Rule remained my first love。 So reading Fortunate Son, about Rule and Shaw's son, Ry, was such a treat。 He is truly a blending of his mother-disciplined, focused, determined to always do his best。 And yet, there is a lost soul seeking its mate that reminded me so much of Rule。 Bowe Keller is the daughter of rocker Jet and his feisty wife, Ayden。 She too, is a musician。 She wants to be part of a band of a lifetime like her dad, but her style may be more of a solo performer。 Although she lacks the confidence to recognize this。 Ry and Bowe grew up snarling and growling at each other。 But in their mid teens anger turned to passion。 Then it turned to regret and pain。 Both have avoided each other for years。 When Ry is dumped by his girlfriend, who does he turn to? Whose house, hours away, is it that compels him to leave his own town and travel to without even finding out if he would be welcome? Ry needs to be with Bowe, even if he doesn't quite understand why she is the person who can help him heal。 These two bring out the worst and the best in each other。 They see what others can't。 Even if their words don't alway match their feelings they speak to each other in some unknown language that only they speak。 Both so stubborn they will infuriate the reader, refusing to see what is right in front of their faces。 Fast forwarding with familiar characters was so much fun。 Make no mistake, I had to think really hard about who was with who, and what happened in their stories。 There are a lot of characters from both the Marked Men and the Saints of Denver series and it's been years since I read these books。 But there were enough references to follow the lineage。 There are so many children of the original characters and plenty of plots and story lines to keep us reading for a long time。 I am loving this next generation! 。。。more

I was so happy when I heard that there was going to be a book on the children from the Marked Men and Saints of Denver。 I was so beyond happy to see their children and all I can say was that this book was just so good! Ry and Bowe are just amazing characters and so different from how their parents were when they were their age, first I'm going to start with Ry。Ry Archer is the son of Rule Archer and Shaw Landon, he's so different than his parents and is often compare to his father's twin, Remy, who passed away。 Ry has just gone through a break-up with his girlfriend and childhood friend, Aston Wheeler, the break-up came out of nowhere and left him completely caught off guard。 For Ry, he and Aston were perfect for each other and complemented each other perfectly, maybe a little bit too much。 But when she tells him that they're not a good lot, it hits Ry hard in his chest。 Ry reminds me of Shaw when it comes to their need to be perfect, but never for themselves but other people。 Ry has good grades and is awesome when it comes to him playing college football but there's something there for him。 Ry is an Archer through and through when it comes to not really being in touch with their feelings, he believes himself to be hollow and emptied, the time he believes that he's serving a purpose is when he's playing football, though he's not even sure that's what's for him。 Ry was such a fun character and different from Rule, though he had his moments where Rule peeked out。 Now, let's get to Bowe Keller。 She's the daughter of Jet Keller and Ayden Cross, let me tell you one thing I love Bowe。 She's such an awesome character and she complements Ry perfectly。 Bowe is a perfect mix of her parents, she wants to be a rock star just like her father but she struggles with finding her footing。 Bowe started a band to follow her father's footsteps but it doesn't seem to be what she needs, Bowe keeps chasing a mirrored dream。 She wants to be just like her father even though she seems to forget her own dream along the way。 Bowe is crazy amazing when it comes to writing music but she's so stuck on wanting to have a band just like her old man, it's hard for her to see that maybe that's not for her。 As for both Ry and Bowe, the two were each other's firsts in many ways。 Though they grew up together and their families are so close that they were always around each other and spend time together since the minute they could walk, but at the same time they were opposite of each other。 Besides Ry being an athlete and Bowe being a musician, they were both struggling to try to find their way through life even though they were brought together in a way that they knew that they were meant for each other。 Ry and Bowe's relationship was amazing to see, I loved seeing the two of them fall in love and seeing how they were able to help each other figure out just what they wanted in life。Fortunate Son was such an amazing read and the story was just wonderful, I loved it and I loved getting thrown back into the world of the Marked Men and Saints of Denver since I'm just so obsessed with those stories, my love for that world just grew and I can't wait to read more! 。。。more

The last quarter of this book had me riveted in a way that I was not expecting from the first three quarters (though I should have been guessing something was coming!)。I loved the set up of this generation。 There are several intriguing stories hinted at throughout this book, but each character is unique, not only from each other, but from their parents as well。 I loved how the make-up of this second generation reflects not only the influence of their parents and a push for individuality, but also reflects where people really are -- of the first generation couples, some have children, while others remained childless。 I love that the author chose to keep some couples childless (for whatever reason) as a reflection that not all couples have kids。I look forward to more from this second generation -- I am hooked on these kids! I didn’t know what to expect when I started this book。 I knew I was going to read it, and that’s about it。 The Marked Men series is where I started with Jay Crownover and how she writes keeps me with her。 Fortunate Son is the first book of what could be a brand new series that takes readers back in time with the Marked Men and Saints of Denver series and into the future with the next generation。 You don’t have to read those books in the other 2 connected series, but you will be better off if you I didn’t know what to expect when I started this book。 I knew I was going to read it, and that’s about it。 The Marked Men series is where I started with Jay Crownover and how she writes keeps me with her。 Fortunate Son is the first book of what could be a brand new series that takes readers back in time with the Marked Men and Saints of Denver series and into the future with the next generation。 You don’t have to read those books in the other 2 connected series, but you will be better off if you do。 These books are worth the love you’ll have for them。 Ever realize you are living your life as someone you really aren’t? Ever realize you’re not too sure what you’re doing is actually want you want to be doing, or being with someone who isn’t wrong for you, but is t right either? Yeah, that’s what Ry is coming to terms with。 I love how Jay Crownover writes such real life stories, that people can relate to。 None of it is written in a way that makes it seem implausible, that it’s just too far fetched to be relatable。 Ever think you are doing exactly what you want to be doing and how you should go about doing it, only to realize you’ve been doing it all wrong and so many opportunities have been wasted or lost? Ever let your emotional pain cause you to separate yourself from more than you realize and how that impacts the most important people in your life? Bowe walks those very paths in this book。 Bowe is such a strong and tender character and Jay Crownover wrote her so well, and gave Bowe her own growth separate from Ry’s。 I loved being back in the world and reuniting with some of my favorite characters。 Thank God for the family chart! That was a life saver for me! 。。。more

Ry and Bowe have always had a pull towards each other, sometimes good and other times bad。 When Ry's relationship ends and he jumps in the car and drives through the night, he ends up at Bowe's。 Cue lots of reflection on why that happened and how they both feel about it, and they're not on the same page。I loved the struggle。 I loved watching these two young adults trying to figure out what they wanted from life and from each other。 There are so many important people in their circle, parents and Ry and Bowe have always had a pull towards each other, sometimes good and other times bad。 When Ry's relationship ends and he jumps in the car and drives through the night, he ends up at Bowe's。 Cue lots of reflection on why that happened and how they both feel about it, and they're not on the same page。I loved the struggle。 I loved watching these two young adults trying to figure out what they wanted from life and from each other。 There are so many important people in their circle, parents and siblings and cousins and friends, who have influence but also have either real or implied expectations。 Ry and Bowe's story had lots of familiar internal struggles from when you're a young twenty-something and trying to figure out what you want but not disappoint anyone important to you。 Their relationship brings out the best of each of them。I hadn't read the Marked Men series before, so I started with Rule and Jet before reading this, since those two books are about the parents。 Fortunate Son probably works as a standalone, but with so many appearances of those characters, I enjoyed it more knowing at least the directly related backstories。 I'm hoping there's more to come with the new generation, because I definitely have questions and want more of the siblings and cousins! 。。。more

This is the start of a second generation spinoff of Jay Crownover’s Marked Men series。 This first book has Ry Archer, Rule’s son, and Bowe Keller, Jet’s daughter。 The boo: starts with Ry reeling from his recent breakup and for some reason he decides to visit Bowe with whom he has always had a prickly relationship。 Bowe is an up and coming musician like her father and is starting to realize she might need to change direction from being in a group。 They both realize that they have always had unres This is the start of a second generation spinoff of Jay Crownover’s Marked Men series。 This first book has Ry Archer, Rule’s son, and Bowe Keller, Jet’s daughter。 The boo: starts with Ry reeling from his recent breakup and for some reason he decides to visit Bowe with whom he has always had a prickly relationship。 Bowe is an up and coming musician like her father and is starting to realize she might need to change direction from being in a group。 They both realize that they have always had unresolved feelings for each other but Ry seemed hesitant to act on his feelings。 It’s an emotional and engrossing story of realizing that sometimes the time has to be right to fall in love with the right person。 It was nice seeing the parents and how they connect with their kids。 I loved th elope story and found it absolutely resonated as a story of young adults finding their way through both life and love。 The obstacles were well written and the pace of the story was wonderful。 I hope that this series continues because I want the stories of the other kids。 。。。more

4。5 stars I'm going to get this right out in the open -- I adored the Marked Men series from Jay Crownover and her return to that special world is certainly a cause for celebration for this reader。 I fell in love with all the boys and it was great to have this second generation thing going on。 Kudos to Jay Crownover for giving fans of the original series more of this world。In Fortunate Son, Ry Archer, Rule and Shaw's son gets dumped by his girl without warning。 Or so it seems to him at first。 4。5 stars I'm going to get this right out in the open -- I adored the Marked Men series from Jay Crownover and her return to that special world is certainly a cause for celebration for this reader。 I fell in love with all the boys and it was great to have this second generation thing going on。 Kudos to Jay Crownover for giving fans of the original series more of this world。In Fortunate Son, Ry Archer, Rule and Shaw's son gets dumped by his girl without warning。 Or so it seems to him at first。 Anyway, he's devastated and finds himself heading to Austin Texas for comfort in the arms of Bowe Keller, Jet and Ayden's daughter。 There's some history between Ry and Bowe, but it's also clear that there's a strong connection between them。 Much of the first part of this book rehashes the relationships between the two generations and reminds the reader just how tight this group of friends remained over the years。 I was intrigued to find out if the second generation shared that strong sense of family。 Things really take a nice turn when Bowe asks Ry for feedback on her new band and he gives it to her。 I really liked these scenes, and the one between Jet and Bowe where they discuss just what it means to get up on stage and what it takes to put yourself out there。 And when it turns out Ry is correct in his assessment of the situation, Bowe can only turn to him to provide a balm to her bruised soul。Meanwhile Ry is also coming to revelations about his time with Aston, his ex, and how to amend his past relationship with Bowe。 And then there's the everlasting comparisons to his uncle Remy, who Ry never knew, but everyone says he is just like him。 That's a lot of Ry to live up to, and he has to learn to deal with that。 I really loved the second half of this book, especially where Ry and Bowe end up at the conclusion of the story。 There's some big drama at the end that I won't spoil , except to say I loved it even with its schmaltzy moments。 There's also plenty of hints for future stories and relationships among this generation of Marked Men offspring。 It was terrific to spend time in this world again。 。。。more

This book had me hanging on to every word! I loved the marked men series so I have been so excited for this second generation of stories。 It was everything I wanted and more。 It was nice to see the original family but getting introduced to the seconds generation was a whole different experience。 This was the angsty romance that I live from Jay’s books。 The characters were amazing and had so much development。 One of the best parts was that this story stands on its own。 You see glimpses of the pas This book had me hanging on to every word! 3。5-3。75 stars。 This was a good book。 Fortunate Son has the charm of the Marked Men series and has so many possibilities for more great stories about the now-grown children of the original characters。 This is Ry and Bowe's book。 Ry and Bowe have a complicated history as childhood friends that ended badly in their teens and they haven't spoken since。 Ry is now a college football player and Bowe lives in Austin and is an aspiring singer。 When Ry's girlfriend breaks up with him, saying they aren't 3。5-3。75 stars。 This was a good book。 Fortunate Son has the charm of the Marked Men series and has so many possibilities for more great stories about the now-grown children of the original characters。 This is Ry and Bowe's book。 Ry and Bowe have a complicated history as childhood friends that ended badly in their teens and they haven't spoken since。 Ry is now a college football player and Bowe lives in Austin and is an aspiring singer。 When Ry's girlfriend breaks up with him, saying they aren't a good match, he can't explain why he immediately runs to Bowe。 Despite their differences they understand each other like no one else does and now the time has come for them to work out their issues and be together。 I enjoyed this story a lot and being back in the Marked Men world。 All of the kids of the original characters are close friends and complicated relationships with each other。 The first 75% of the book was my favorite。 I did feel like it lost a bit of relationship momentum and fizzled out at the end。 I didn't feel like they had really worked out everything between them and some important conversations were skipped over。 I wasn't super satisfied with where they ended up。 (view spoiler)[ The epilogue starts at 88%。 Ry and Bowe are in a relationship but living in seperate cities, hours away from each other。 I feel like in this book, and often in books by this author, the couples barely get HFNs and are often separated from each other at the end。 I personally like more secure HEAs。 (hide spoiler)] Still, this was an enjoyable book in general。 This world was so much potential and I really hope Ms。 Crownover continues this as a series。 *arc provided in exchange for an honest review* 。。。more

Okay first off this book is absolute perfection。 I loved it from start to finish! Jay had me hanging on every word。 I have read ever book that jay has put out, and this one is definitely in my top picks。 It gave me all the angst and romance that I love from her books。 I loved seeing Ryier and Bowe’s story play out, they are perfect for each other。 Ryier is basically the epitome of swoon worthy and Bowe is the definition of a badass rocker chick。 It was so good to be able to catch glimpses of the Okay first off this book is absolute perfection。 I loved it from start to finish! I can’t wait to see what else is to come in the series! 。。。more

She’s done it again! Jay Crownover has written an absolutely engrossing, masterpiece of a story! I love reading stories about the next generation/kids of another series’ characters and this book is a fantastic example of that! I truly enjoyed every word in this book and couldn’t put the story down from the second it showed up on my kindle。 This book has absolutely lived up to the fantastic-ness that encompasses all the other (technically) connected stories that came before it! I definitely love me some hunky Archer men 😉😘👌🏻 In this book, you get a brand new Archer to swoon over, plus you get to say hi to your old favourites。 So perfect! 😊Jay Crownover did a superb job of developing and describing the characters in this story, not to mention the phenomenal depicting of emotion(s) throughout every scene。 Basically this story and these characters are incredibke and you need them in your life! Like with all of her written works, Jay kept a perfect balance between lighthearted romance and more serious and mature aspects/scenes throughout the entire story。 I always try to keep my reviews of books vague to ensure I am not giving out any unwarranted spoilers but I can confidently say this。。。 Bowe and Ry’s story is a must read! 👌🏻 I think this is some (only one of, because there are so many amazing Crownover books) of Jay’s best work yet and I HIGHLY recommend this story! Once again, I love, love, love this story and know you will too! Five stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 。。。more

The main story in Fortunate Son focuses on the next-gen of adult children with ample glimpses of the original characters, beginning with Rule and Shaw’s son, Ry Archer and Jet and Ayden’s daughter, Bowe Keller。 Ry is the fortunate son, and not only serves as the protector of the group, but a reminder of the family member who was tragically taken away before he was born。 Living in the shadow of great expectations, Ry finds his plans are suddenly derailed after a break up, turning to his arch nemesis Bowe during a difficult time。 As for Bowe, she is living out her dream of becoming a musician just like the man she idolizes—her father。 However, aiming for the same path does not always mean the same result。 Will Ry find himself? Does Bowe have what it takes to be a famous singer? Are Bowe and Ry meant to be?“But you’ve always been my safe haven。”I loved returning to Denver with all the twists, steam, and angst the author is skilled at executing。 Fortunate Son had great world building, wonderful characters, and is a page-turner! In addition, I look forward to a complete spinoff series featuring all the kids and Crowd favorites from the previous series’—Marked Men and Saints of Denver—because there are answers needed! In celebration or tragedy, the Marked Men crew bands together, generational bonds reaffirm the “family” chosen is always there, no matter what。 And I can only hope that more is written—the next 2nd generation story, Prodigal Son, must be published!? 🍀🤞🏻“I wasn’t just a fortunate boyfriend; I was also a very fortunate son。” - Ry Archer Also, included as a bonus, the reader gets a preview at the author’s two recent releases—A Righteous Man and Goldilocks, so prepare to fall for Hollywood heartthrob, Salinger and the alpha protector, Huck! I have read and reviewed both, and highly recommend。 I reviewed an ARC voluntarily, and look forward to future novels in the series by the author。 。。。more

Dedicated to music, sassy and charismatic, this girl couldn't be more opposite from Ry。These two brought so much more than a romance into this plot。 I mean, their love story is incredible- angsty, emotional and heartfelt (plus scorching hot!), But I also loved to see how they growed as individuals。 This book is not only about evolving from frenemies to lovers, it's also a story about maturing, self-acceptance and chasing dreams。Jay Crownover delivered a truly stunning romance, a beautiful tale about soulmates who were written in metaphorical stars。 If you loved Marked Men series, this book is definitely a must read。 And if you're a newbie to this family, get on this train asap, because Fortunate Son will make you fall in love not only with its main characters, but also with the whole gang! 。。。more
